A wonderful pair of oil paintings by a little know Scottish artist John Levack.He has a major work owned by Lanarshire County Council of 'The Curlers at Rawyards.'Born in 1823 he died from laudanum in 1874.He was an extremely good portrait painter. I have a full history of him from his great great grandaughter and from Lanarkshire Council Services.The paintings are in their original frames with the artist own description on the back. The paintings depict games of draughs where grandfather is winning in one and loosing in the other. Both signed and dated 1861.
