A beautiful romantic gift!
This is a mid-century heart shaped powder compact in excellent condition complete with the original unused signed puff, sifter and felt pouch. The lid is adorned with a 24 karat gold and sterling silver Damascene landscape and so this would be an ideal silver or golden wedding anniversary gift for her. The historical fact sheet we include with this purchase documents the elaborate process of creating a Damascene collectible using 24 karat gold and sterling silver. Damascene is considered a symbol of good fortune. The lid decoration is a finely crafted 24 karat gold and sterling silver oriental scene which depicts the Ichinomiya, or supreme Shinto shrine of Suruga Province, Mount Fuji in the background. On the left hand side "24K" in 24 karat gold thread. It is superbly made with a good heart shaped mirror. The brass is a deep rich gold tone. The inner lid is heart shaped too with an attractive embossed design. The compact is signed " New Light " on the inner lid. The puff and sifter are also heart shaped. The original black felt pouch is in excellent condition too. All clasps and hinges work perfectly.
This romantic 1950s compact measures almost 7.5 cm X 7.5 cm & weighs 83.2 grams.
