Description:
This is a fine quality vintage English Regency design brass coffee table, in the style of Maison Jansen, constructed with a rectangular brass plate frame and a clear glass top, circa 1980, in good original condition. The top consists of an 8mm thick piece of polished edge smoked glass, with canted corners and a bevelled edge, secured by four open cast fretwork corner supports, set within a brass angular box frame. The glass coffee table is raised on four splayed Regency design ring-turned reeded “bamboo” style legs, terminating on splayed feet. The brass legs are united by a box frame cross-stretcher, united with a small domed finial. This brass coffee table is well constructed and heavy to list, which is always a sign of quality. If you want the glass top replacing for a new clear glass top (as opposed to smoked), please contact us for a quote.

History of Neoclassical Architecture & Furniture:
Furniture design during the Georgian 18th and early Regency 19th century, was heavily inspired by Greek architecture and became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world and this was reflected in the design of furniture during this period. The prevailing styles of architecture in most of Europe for the previous two centuries, Renaissance architecture and Baroque architecture, already represented partial revivals of the Classical architecture of ancient Rome and ancient Greek architecture, but the Neoclassical movement aimed to strip away the excesses of Late Baroque and return to a purer, more complete, and more authentic classical style, adapted to modern purposes.
Condition Report:
This is a fine quality vintage English Regency design brass coffee table, in the style of Maison Jansen, constructed with a rectangular brass plate frame and a clear glass top, circa 1980, in good original condition. The brass late frame has been sympathetically cleaned in our workshop and displays a lovely rich finish to the frame. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the brass frame and wear to the feet tips, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no chips to the polished edges of the thick 8mm glass panel. Nominal light surface marks to the glass top, which is difficult to see in the images due to the minimal amount. This brass coffee table is well constructed and very heavy to list, which is always a sign of quality. This Regency glass coffee table is solid in joint and ready to use.

We offer free delivery to mainland England, Wales, and Southern Scotland (anywhere south of Stirling). We do not offer free delivery to locations north of Stirling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, or any British Islands off the mainland for example, the Isle of Man, Isle of White and Channel Islands. If you live in one of the areas where we do not offer free delivery, please contact us for a delivery quote before purchasing the item. Delivery will be made by our specialised antique furniture delivery service, or in some cases we will use a courier service for distant deliveries.
Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you by email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. Once you have confirmed you can accept delivery on the provisional delivery date, we will book the delivery in with our shippers and it then becomes a confirmed delivery date.

A 14-day free “no quibble” UK returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. We will collect the item free of charge from you (we do not charge a return fee / collection fee). You will be given a full refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. We will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit).
