A fabulous portrait of an unknown gentleman, wearing a formal red uniform, and white cravat. Oil on canvas. Circa 1780.

This fine oil on canvas portrait demonstrates expert techniques of utilising light and dark, much in the same style and manner as celebrated artist Joseph Wright (1734-1797). This wonderful mid-sized portrait features the sitter wearing a classic red uniform and white stock around his neck.

The gentleman is unknown, as is the artist. The painting sits in a decorative gilt frame and is in excellent condition, commensurate with age.
