George II Walnut Armchair
Circa 1720. A good George II (1727-1760) walnut armchair. The shaped top and curved rail with elegant splat beneath, two curved arms supported on shaped uprights with scrolling ends. Drop in seat, rail with simple ribbing and a small shaped frieze to the front. Back legs turned with blocks towards the base, elegant cabriole front legs with foliate carving knees, carved quarter blocks finishing on a pad foot. The stretchers to the side and back are turned and tapering with a shaped stretcher bracing the two side stretchers.
