French Empire commode with gilt lions paw feet
Really super quality French Empire period marble top commode with gilded lions paw feet and brass capitols to the pillars.
Wonderful rich colour tone throughout the mahogany and all the original brasses have polished up well too. Particularly nice details to the brass capitols and the lions mask drop handles too.
The marble top is the original and has lovely charcoal and earthy tones, some “nibbles” to the corners but all very minor.
Very decorative piece and with three full width drawers for storage. All drawers running well and with their original locks, although I don’t have any working keys.
Measuring:
34 1/2 inches or 87.5 cm high
47 3/4 inches or 121.5 cm wide
23 3/4 inches or 60.5 cm deep Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
