A stunning and fine quality inlaid mahogany centre, or occasional table by Edwards and Roberts of London. Of octagonal form and standing on 8 turned legs, united by an under-tier. The top cross banded in satinwood and with an inlaid border of floral motiffs and masks. With a large central ornate inlaid foliate panel. The whole table with boxwood stringing throughout. Offered for sale in excellent overall condition with a wonderful colour and patina (note that there is a shale to the under-tier as seen in photos).

Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London. By 1892 they occupied more than a dozen buildings in Wardour Street, where they continued to trade until the end of the century. They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier antique furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp.
