This striking Art Nouveau copper tea caddy was made by Joseph Sankey & Sons in Bilston, near Wolverhampton and dates to the early 1900s. Joseph Sankey & Sons were a huge and highly successful metalware company that was founded in 1891, although the company's roots go back to the 1860s. They produced a vast range of products but for collectors they are best known for their decorative copper and brass hollowware produced between around 1900 and the start of WW1.

This copper tea caddy is a size 8, which means it holds 8oz of loose tea. It has an oval shape with an embossed Art Nouveau motif on the front. It is stamped on the bottom JS&S.B for Joseph Sankey & Son, Bilston, along with the figure 8 showing it is an 8oz size.

The caddy is 16cm high to the top of the lid and 11cm in width. It weighs 252g.

Condition is generally good with two very small dents around the top rim and a couple of tiny dings. Nothing more than you would expect after over 100 years of use. It is still perfectly usable as a tea caddy, or for storing other dry substances or makes a striking decorative item for a kitchen or elsewhere in the home.
