We are absolutely delighted to be able to offer this stunning French Art Deco period Double Bed. It is an absolutely fabulous example of exotic timbers and craftsmanship. This fabulous example is veneered in aspen with zebrano crossbanding. The warm tones to these veneers are an absolute delight. Both the headboard and footboard are extremely impressive. The headboard of octagonal outline is intricately veneered in its entirety to create the most amazing 3 D Sunray effect, not only anchoring this firmly to the Art Deco period having a Sunray design, but the designs have been carried out so that the headboard depicts the sun rising in the morning with the sun overhead with beautiful long rays extending out to the full width of the bed, whilst the footboard has the rays radiating upwards depicting the sun set for bedtime. The footboard is octagonal with a shallow dip to the top rail which is a lovely feature. Between the 2 sun rays is an oval inlaid panel depicting a semi clad mother snd her 2 infant cherubs playing amongst various foliage. This is constructed in various boxwood veneers, some in very, very pale green and others in very, very pale rouge. The veneering to this bed is absolutely exquisite and in fantastic condition. The headboard and footboard are joined by wooden side rails again veneered in aspen and zibrano and will support a double divan base and matress (not included).
The bed bolts together with hidden encapsulated bolts creating a very sturdy bedstead.
Finally, the whole is raised on 6 faceted rosewood, veneered, melon shaped wooden feet elevating the bed slightly and shows off this stunning bedstead to its maximum.
