This amazing piece came out of a medical practice in the West End of London & was in a very tatty condition when I helped carry it out. The old faux leather upholstery was badly torn & the webbing was broken. Basically, this piece has been restored, polished & re-upholstered. I believe it was made to be used as an examination couch, with all the medical equipment to be stored in the drawers & compartments below. This couch is antique Victorian & mahogany. It has a very useful ratchet system, which enables one to recline at different heights or lay completely flat. It has boldly turned legs & a polished back. This piece could easily be used for it's original purpose or would make a fantastic prop in a doctors surgery or to be used in the home. This item was also made in London (see label).
