This is an antique desktop stationery box. An English, oak correspondence case in Arts & Crafts taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
Striking Victorian craftsmanship with delightful figuring
Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order
Select oak stocks present fine grain interest and an abundance of medullary rays
Sumptuous warm caramel hues throughout the tapering form
Unmarked brass shield dressing the broad lid, ideal for personalisation
Dressed with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
Fascinating card slide calendar to the lid interior with dates for January to December 1909
Small glass inkwell sits front and centre, with a pair of dipping ink pens nesting to the side
Drop front features a tooled red leather skiver to the reverse
