The embroidered linen makes this compact ideal gift for a fourth (linen) wedding anniversary.
This compact is a highly collectible 1950s Stratton " Regency " compact mirror and it is suitable as a handbag mirror. The lid has an embroidered inlay framed by brass bezel. The needle point decoration is in excellent condition, having been protected by an acetate cover. The whole compact is in very good condition. Around this needle work is the most exquisite luxurious engined turned design featuring flowers, foliage & scrolls. The lid lifts easily to reveal a very good mirror that gives an excellent reflection. The mirror bezel echos the shape of the Regency giving the mirror & interior case a very stylish appearance. The inner lid is decorated with the "Compact-in-Hand" logo. Which shows it is fitted with Stratton's patented self-opening inner lid. Tilt the mirror backwards slightly & theinner lid pops open -over sixty years old & it still works perfectly! The base is decorated with the design Stratton reserved for their luxury range - the "curled feathers". It is very beautiful.
This wonderful compact measures 3 3/8" X 2 5/8" & weighs 111.9 grams.
