This 19th-century English pine and iron-bound shipping trunk dates to the mid-Victorian period, circa 1870. It features a superb presentation that highlights its distinctive and versatile design, showcasing a desirable aged patina and remaining in good original condition.
The stained pine exhibits fine grain interest and deep caramel hues, while the trunk is bound throughout with cast iron straps and braced with sturdy pine supports. Please note that the lock is not functioning, and the key is absent. The painted interior offers generous storage space, making it practical for various uses. The trunk is equipped with a pair of thick leather handles for easy transport and stands upon four small iron castors, set at each corner for enhanced mobility. The hardware is original and in great shape, while the original leather handles and straps are also well-preserved. The top corners are protected with beautifully contoured hardware that wraps around for added durability. The hardwood slats are similarly protected with classic hardware.
