Antique Samplers

Antique and Vintage Samplers were often stitched by children and young people in the home. They were a form of embroidery to develop needlework skills. Seen today as antique folk art, they are very unique and very personal. They were often dated and bear the name of the person who had done the stitchwork giving a fascinating snapshot of a young person in that era we rarely see. Popular motifs include numbers, the alphabet, animals, flowers and the home. These were usually framed and make great decorative pieces for the wall & home decor today.
