A very atmospheric Oil on Canvas by William R Stone. act 1865-1878.The artist painted mainly in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Wales.This picture is believed to be in or around Amstrey Herefordshire. Stone did many of his paintings in this area including Amstrey Mill, views of the River Lugg and Leominster old road.Some of his best paintings have been Winter scenes. The photograph does not do justice to the range of contrasts in this painting.
