Circa 1840, William IV pollard oak and oak open bookcase. The top with its ogee moulded cornice, 3 break front sections and a frieze with matching veneers. The break front sections are veneered in pollard oak. Below this there are 3 panelled pilasters with rounded mouldings and burr veneers on the facing. On the left and right there are 4 solid oak adjustable shelves with moulded edges. Beneath the bottom shelf is a configuration of 2 short drawers with burr elm veneered fronts, ebonised knob handles and ebonised cockbeadings. Beneath this there are 2 further cupboards with stylish mouldings, burr elm panels, knob handles and inside is a single shelf with oak facings. All stands on an enclosed plinth with 3 break front sections similar to the top. The sides of the bookcase also have fielded panels. The bookcase has been re-polished and is a wonderful colour. Stylish and functional.
