Welsh Oak washing bat Welsh 19th century
A fantastic survival in such good condition, probably because it's made of oak, a tough nut to crack. The shape, the carved details, and the colour make it so complete somehow. It hasn't been used in a very long time but it comes to hand like an old friend. A glorious piece of Carmarthenshire country treen, so heavy, when I first came upon it I thought it might be lignum. A rare item to add to your collection.
28 1/2" long, 5 1/8" wide and about 2 1/4" deep.
