Welsh Fruitwood Cottage Settle c1800
Something very special.
A beautiful little Welsh Fruitwood and Sycamore Box Settle of the most desirable and rare traditional winged form and highly sought after small size - Teifi Valley c1800
At just 3ft 6” long with perfect seat height and gorgeous winged sides it is super snug and very comfortable. In exceptional original condition with the most spectacular mellow colour and just the sweetest proportions.
These iconic Welsh sgiws were originally found in taverns, cottages and farmhouses of the region often in the kitchen or beside the fireplace. This one being about as small as you can hope to find was likely made for a small cottage or alcove in a tavern.
Ever so comfy and small enough to work in any room this is a very special example indeed. Strong and sturdy with fabulous grain and warm and nutty colour true to age. A beautiful settle in every aspect and one of the smallest we have ever had of this rare and highly sought after design.
