Vintage Silver Trinket Dish, James Dixon, 1973
Here we have an attractive Vintage Sterling Silver Trinket Dish from the 1970s in a retro Georgian style. The dish has a plain oval base whist the sides and rim are decorated with scrolls and foliage.
This versatile dish would look beautiful on any dressing table or bedside cabinet, would be great for small stationery items on a desk or could be used to hold nuts or snacks.
The trinket dish is made in Sheffield in a heavy gauge of silver by well known silversmiths James Dixon & Sons and dates to 1973. James Dixon & Sons were founded back in 1806 and remained a family run firm up until 1976. They produced a wide range of silver items of consistently good quality.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 50 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dish is 12.2cm / 4.8ins long, 8.7cm / 3.4ins wide and 2.5cm / 1in high. It weighs in at a substantial 64.8g / 2.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the base of the trinket dish are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the Gothic date letter F for 1973 and the J.D & S makers' mark for James Dixon & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
