This is a fabulous and rare piece! - In good vintage condition, dating late 1930's Art Deco powder compact in a wonderful octagonal shape. It depicts the famous RMS Queen Mary Cruise Liner - it is set to a white metal/possibly chrome base - using the natural butterfly wing tehcnique the top is in good order with reverse painted image to the clear celluloid cover - the natural morpho blue wing showing some signs of foxing commensurate with age (this is a very common and natural process to the butterfly wing), but in my opinion does not detract from this special piece - Measuring c. 2.1/4" inch diameter all clasps and hinges are perfect, opening to reveal a nice clear interior, with a high polish steel mirror a small puff and a godette with original pressed powder - very nice, I am hoping this little lovely will find its way to an appreciative buyer.
