This is a vintage Navy rum kettle. An English, steel container colloquially known as a 'mess fanny' and issued by Sellman & Hill Ltd, dating to the mid-20th century, circa 1950.

In type approved 4 gallon size
Tally plate displays the maker's mark for Sellman & Hill of Wolverhampton
Second tally plate to lid, similarly unmarked
This vintage rum kettle is an interesting piece of Admiralty approved metalware, with great patina. Solid joints and construction, delivered polished and ready for the home.
