1 Antique Victorian Watercolour Marine Painting Brixham Devon from Breakwater Fishing Harbour Port By Malcolm Crosse.
We are excited to bring to the art market this fabulous rare nautical painting it has not been for sale since 1999.
Subject coastal marine view of Brixham harbour in Devon out at Breakwater in front profile view, such a busy fascinating artwork scene, aa small boat is sitting on top of the breakwater, to the left are 2 sailing ships anchored in the calm breakwater, the nearest is much taller with 3 masts, the smaller fishing boat next to it has 1 mast and is painted black with a lower red hull. In the background you can view people figures looking over the harbour wall, over to the right the beautiful coast that merges with the calm sea, in the distance is the town of Brixham with all of the buildings that are built on a sloping hill that raises up, other figures can be seen walking along, Above with mainly overcast grey sky with some areas of blue coming through.

In our opinion this is one of his finest coastal marine works.

Circa beginning of 20th century 1900 end of Victorian era.
Signed bottom left by the known marine artist Malcolm Crosse.
Malcolm Crosse was a known British artist born during the 19th Century, he died in the 20th century. His works have sold at auctions around the world. This painting of Brixham from out Breakwater was last on the market at Christie's South Kensington in 1999. The artist died in the 20th Century.
Brixham Harbour is a large coastal marine breakwater structure, which is positioned at the town of Brixham in Devon in England, it reaches out half a mile offshore. It's an exciting to walk along its entire length, right at the end you see the whole harbour and town an amazing view to see in person. The breakwater provides shelter for vessels mooring at the port, including the historic Brixham fishing fleet. The building of the structure to its final length spanned several decades, with work beginning in 1843 to the design of the local civil engineer James Meadows Rendel and being completed in 1916, when the present cast-iron lighthouse was installed at the pier end. Brixham Breakwater is also a fantastic place to catch fish.
