An unusual late Victorian freestanding walnut roll top desk. The top with a moulded 3/4 gallery above an "S" shaped tambour which opens to a fitted interior consisting of 6 birds eye maple veneered drawers and 11 pigeon holes of various sizes. The writing surface retaining the original gold tooled black leather. The lower section having 2 drawers, each with applied moulding and original brass handles. The whole standing on ring turned and tapered legs with brass and porcelain cup castors. Condition - Original and very good. Size - Height...44''/112cm. Width...42''/ 107cm. Depth...27.75''/ 70.5 cm.
