Victorian oil painting after George Armfield
A charming oil on canvas farmyard scene after George Armfield. The painting is typically dark in nature with a boy and his dog surrounded by pigs and a donkey in a farmyard setting. The work is very reminiscent of style of George Armfield the great nineteenth century painter of rural scenes. The painting has been lined in the past and had some restoration all of which has been very competently done. The painting retains the original superb quality gilt frame with wonderful shell corners and all original gilding. The whole has a great country house look and is ready to hang. C.1850.
