Victorian Oak Dining Table & 2 Leaves, seats 12

An attractive Victorian extending dining table in light golden quarter-sawn oak with two original leaves and dating to c.1870. The rounded rectangular top with a moulded edge and decorative tablet above each carved and fluted turned leg, standing on brass caps with Cope & Collinson brown pottery castors. The ‘screw expander’ winding mechanism smoothly extends the table from just under 6ft to nearly 9ft allowing it to seat 10 people (or 12 at a squeeze) if using both leaves.
Sympathetically cleaned and repolished using traditional methods to give a light honey oak colour to the top, medullary rays from the quarter-sawn cut of the oak produce the attractive ‘tiger grain’ pattern to the top. Some minor small /losses splits to veneer on frieze on corners. The castors stamped ‘C&C patent’, leaves stamped to the edges, winder handle included.
Extended Length - 8ft 10.25in / 106.25in (270cm)
Closed Length - 5ft 11in / 71in (180.5cm)
Width - 51.25in (130cm)
Height - 28.75in (73cm)
Leaves - 17in and 18.25in (43.2cm and 46.2cm)
Legroom - 23.9in (60.5cm) under end frieze and 27.25in (69cm) under inserted leaves
If extra legroom is required a set of wooden cup raisers can be made.
Space between legs - 35.75in/91cm when closed
Please feel free to request more photos as we are limited in the number we can upload.
Ref: 0554 Please appreciate all our items are antique and as such may have minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits signs of old woodworm, and minor losses to veneer, which combine with care and years of polishing to create an individual character and patina. We cannot describe each marks separately and therefore suggest you do take the time to request extra photos. We do offer a 14 day money back guarantee for UK purchases but cannot refund the return shipping cost.
