Victorian Maple & Co Mahogany Chest Of Drawers
-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-
A superb quality Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, made by British renowned cabinet makers Maple & Co.
C1870.
This very handsome chest is of rounded corner design, and gives a vast amount of storage space. Having eight drawers in total. The three lower drawers graduate in size, and are all deep, particularly the bottom drawer which incorporates the plinth base, making it extra deep. The five drawers to the top feature a central "hat" drawer, flanked by four further small drawers. All drawers are constructed from solid mahogany, showing great quality. The hat drawer has the Maple & Co stamp.
All the original locks and escutcheons are present.
Decorative turned bun handles.
Standing on a plinth base with flattened bun-feet.
Lovely rich colour and patination.
Overall in good, sturdy strong condition. Has numerous scratches to the hat drawer and a couple of the small drawers, shown in the pictures. General signs of age and use. Good even colour throughout. No marks to the top.
Very solid sturdy and strong.
