Victorian Mahogany Extending Dining Table 3 Leaves
Solid Mahogany Extending Dining Table With Three Removable Original Leaves.
Victorian In The Manner Of Gillows.
A solid Mahogany Victorian extending wind out dining table of good size, would seat 10 to 12 people.
H.MAWER & STEPHENSONS, LONDON this is stamped on the inside extension rails. H.Mawer & Stephenson. H. Mawer & Stephenson are listed in The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, London based. They had a large premises at one point in the Fulham Road, London.
The table is in super condition and is ready for any home or office. The dining table has no major cracks to the top and all leg joints are firm.
Under frame has nice mouldings.
The polish is in super condition. We have professionally lightly cleaned the whole table and waxed it, so fully ready to use in any home or office. Nice even colour across top and leaves. No deep scratches or ring marks can be seen.
A great item that has stood the test of time.
Estimated age around 1840-1860.
The table winder thread is made by Joseph Fitter of Birmingham as shown. The table opens and closes very well.
The legs are a classic turned shape with nice carved reeded detail. Sits on a set of brass castors with brown porcelain wheels.
The table is a wind out to increase its length, you can add the leaves three, two or just one. The table can then be closed down when more space is required making it very adaptable for your family or office requirements.
Dimensions are as follows:
Top closed diameter: 48" (122cm.)
Fully open length: 93 3/4" (238cm.)
Height: 29 1/4" (74cm.)
Leaves:
2 = 14 1/8" (36cm.)
1 = 17 1/4" (44cm.)
Knee height: 24 1/2" (62.3cm.)
Knee Height under the three leaves: 27" (70cm.)
