Victorian Childs/ Gossip Chair by William Wheeler
A lovely 19th century oak childs or Gossip chair, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer of Kellie Castle in Scotland in the Chippendale manner, and made by William Wheeler of Arncroach in Fife who was both joiner and wheelwright to the Lorimer family. He began his business in Carnbee in 1877 and began to make chairs for Sir Robert Lorimer, renowned architect and antique furniture designer, in the 1880's using local timber from the estate.
