Victorian Carousel Fairground Horse
Wow ! What a Christmas present this would make !!!
This is a superb and rare life size carved wooden figure of a rearing horse. It is 6 feet four inches high and stands freely balanced in a rearing position.
Probably made as a circus or fairground figure, it is carved from solid soft wood and has a fabulous and original gesso and brightly painted finish
The rear legs and tail form a tripod base which allow the horse to balance in a rearing posture. The painted finish is predominantly red with gilt and black highlights over a gesso ground work and is totally original ,and in very good order.
