Victorian Bronze Anthropomorphic Inkwell

A wonderful mid Victorian Anthropomorphic Bronze inkwell, modelled as a grinning devil or imps head with long hairy feet, a mischievous grin (or is that leer?), tufted open ears for quills and a hinged head opening to reveal a recess for inkwell (now missing). The figure is crisply detailed and of good patination. Unfortunately it has lost its original base and is now set on a later stand, probably dating to the Edwardian period.
I have had several of these in brass, set on inkstands, but never in bronze. The difference in quality is very clear! PriceSOLD! DimensionsInkwell Heigh 7.5cm (3") Width 7cm (2 3/4") Depth 9cm (3 3/4") Height Including stand 13cm (5 1/4") Category Antique Desk Accessories Date Late Victorian Late 19th Century Antiques Material Bronze Origin English Condition Good overall. Good patination. Lacking base, as previously mentioned, and lacking ink liner. Item code as289a083 / 14054 Status Sold
