Stobwasser-type snuff box 'Leda & the Swan'

This is early 19th century Stobwasser-style papier mache snuff box with 'Leda and the Swan' painted in fine detail on the lid. Though it has the quality of a Stobwasser box it is not marked as such with the exception of some faint numbers on the interior of the base.
Dimensions: Diameter 9.8 cm x Height 1.8 cm
Weight 64 g
Condition: This box is in fine antique condition. There are no losses or splits on the lid and base, and the two sides fit snugly together. Some of the French Polish has chipped off around the head of Leda, which has been highlighted by the studio lighting in the photograph, but it has not affected the underlying paintwork.
Postage & packing: £6 within the UK. Please contact us for a quote if you live overseas.
Additional information: Leda and the Swan is a story and subject in art from Greek mythology in which the god Zeus, in the form of a swan, rapes Leda. According to later Greek mythology, Leda bore Helen and Polydeuces, children of Zeus, while at the same time bearing Castor and Clytemnestra, children of her husband Tyndareus, the King of Sparta.
