THE FOUR SEASONS FRENCH POCHOIR’s by PAUL ALLIER
FRENCH 1896 to 1953
ALL MOUNTED IN ONE FRAME VERY RARE TO FIND
SIGNED BY HIM IN PENCIL|BOTTOM RIGHT ON EACH ONE
From "Les Quatre Saisons" published by Galerie Lutetia of Paris in 1928
The Overall size of the frame is 60 x 70 cm’s = 24 x 28 inches approx.
Each image is – 17 x 21 cm’s = 6 ½ x 8 ¼ inches with double mounts
These images are made by the Pochoir method hand painted
The images were printed then coloured by hand through stencils
Each colour had it’s unique stencil, colour applied by Gouache Watercolor
Very Labour intensive process so only executed for a limited period .
The Frame is wood with veneer bands in a mottled and orange colour & black
PAUL ALLIER studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts under Cormon where he met Lepape, Martin and Marty
