Fine quality little burr walnut lady's writing desk or 'Bonheur du Jour' c.1870. Raised top with two small velvet lined glazed cabinets fitted inside with a single shelf and topped with pierced ormolu galleries either side of little shaped mirror and a small drawer below. Open the fall to reveal a rosewood lined interior with leather writing surface, pigeon holes and three small stationery drawers plus a compartment below accessed via sliding panel. Knee height below the writing surface is 28″. Highly figured burr walnut veneers with extensive and very fine inlaid decoration across the front and sides. Original gilded ormolu mounts and handles. Shaped apron to the front and sides and raised on slim curving cabriole legs with further mounts front and rear. Obvious tarnish to the little mirror at the centre, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
