Unusually small late 19th.c. French walnut commode or chest of drawers c.1860. Just 35" wide. Solid walnut top with cleated sides and moulded edges. Over a chest of four drawers with highly figured burr walnut veneers arranged in a striking symmetrical pattern across the front. Shallower top drawer with a shaped front (continued on the sides of the cabinet), the three main drawers with decorative brass escutcheons and working locks. Solid walnut sides (also very nicely figured). Moulded plinth with slim pad feet. Pine back panel and drawer linings. Very good colour and condition with some previous restorations. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
