Unusual small early 19th.c. French walnut and marble top commode chest of drawers c.1830. Just 40" wide and 17" deep at the top. Original dark grey marble top over five drawers. Highly figured burr walnut veneers laid in a symmetrical pattern across the front. Shaped top drawer continued on the sides, the flat front lower drawers with good quality brass knobs and inlaid brass escutcheons. Beautifully carved pointed finial pilasters at the front corners of the cabinet, an unusual and very attractive feature. Solid walnut sides, raised on a moulded plinth veneered to match at the front. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
