Small Musical Verge Bracket Clock with Calendar
This very fine bracket antique clock is an exciting find , the like of which I have never encountered before . Having been fortunate to handle many fine antique clocks over the years this particular example is possibly the most complicated an interesting bracket clock of this style and age I have seen , being all the more remarkable when the overall size is considered. This clock is dated circa 1810
The fine mahogany case with brass inlay summounted by a brass pineapple finial has pierced brass side fretts side ring handles and decorated brass bun feet stands 19 inches tall (to the top of the handle) and only 13 1/2 inches to the top of the arch. The rear door is glazed to show the movement.
The 5 inch arched painted dial has subsidiary dials around the centre arbor showing seconds , day , date and month . In the arch are dials for strike silent , chime silent and a tune selection. The finely pierced steel hands are original.
The small size chain driven triple fusee movement with engraved backplate has verge escapement with back wind. The crutch is bent to miss the winding arbour during operation. It strikes the quarters on two bells with the hour struck on a third, the hammer block sliding to position the hammers.
The clock plays one of four tunes every third hour (or on demand) via a 4 inch pin barrel across the backplate on 15 hammers playing on a nest of 8 bells with repeat facility.
. The width is 9 1/2 inches and the depth 7 . I have shown it illustrated next to a standard size double fusee bracket clock for size comparison.
The condition is excellent , the case being professionally restored to a very high standard and I am certain that the most discerning client will not be disappointed .The dial has some signs of localised touching in but this can be professionally restored at the buyers request.
The clocks functions perfectly fine but will be professionally serviced prior to sale.,
This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
