Small Continental Oak Armoire / Wardrobe
This lovely small armoire is of continental origins. We would estimate it to date from the early twentieth century. We believe it to be constructed from solid oak, although please note that we are not 100% sure of the wood type. The armoire has an upper drawer with a carved front, which retains its decorative brass handles and escutcheon. Below this are two doors which open to reveal a cupboard section with a hanging rail at the top and a lower removable wooden shelf. The doors retain their decorative escutcheons a later wardrobe lock, but please note that no key is present. The armoire is supported on squat legs at the front and square legs at the back.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There would have been decorative mouldings attached at the sides beside the drawer and the tops of the doors, but these are missing and the wood here is a slightly different colour. The shelf inside the cupboard section has a section cut out at the front near the middle. There are some signs of old woodworm to the back panel - this is not active, but has been re-treated as a precaution.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 170.5cm high, 114.5cm wide, 50cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
