Superb set of five good quality mahogany bust stands or pedestals c.1950. Standing 45½” tall with a 11½” square top surrounded by a broad moulded edge. Tapering columns with fluted (and cable fluted in the lower portion) detail to each side. Moulded bases and pliths weighted with a block of iron inside for stability. Previously in use at Bodelwyddan castle in North Wales which until recently was home to 19th.c. works from the collection of the National Portrait Gallery. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
