Set of Five French Hand Coloured Engravings of Mon %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a superb collection of hand coloured 18th century French engravings after Jacque de Seve (fl.1742 - 1788) depicting five different species of monkey in their natural habitat. Jacque de Seve (fl. 1742 to 1788) was a French illustrator who was commissioned by George Louis Leclerc, Compte de Buffon to provide illustrations for 'Histoire Naturelle, Generale et Particulaire (1749-1778, 36 volumes). They were engraved by Louis Le Grand.

The engravings are all in excellent order with good depth of colour and no foxing. A particularly nice feature of this set is that they are beautifully framed, and the corners of the mounts and inner slips have attractive marbling to them. These measure 43 cms by 38 cms.
