Scotts' Shipbuilders Catalogue 1932
Scotts' of Greenock Shipbuilders Catalogue of 1932. 32 pages of the History of the Company from 1901 - 1932. Scotts' founded in 1711 and continued trading until 1993. They built 1250 ships and were one of the most important Shipbuilders in Scotland. One of the many ships that they built was H.M.S. Thrush, completed in 1889 and was commanded by H.R.H. King Goerge V, when Duke of York. They Built the first super Dreadnought Battleship H.M.S. Colossus - involved at The Battle of Jutland 1916, Captained by Dudley Pound, plus H.M.S Ajax and the first submarines for the Bitish Admiralty.
Scotts' built the Cunard Line 'Transylvania' in 1914, which was torpedoed during the First World War. They also built ships for the UK, America, Chile, China, Australia and many more countries.
The catalogue shows the Building Yards and Dry Docks in Greenock and lists Vessels completed from 1901 to 1932. Printed lithographically by Rennie & Hodge Ltd., Printers, Glasgow.
In 2011 the MacLean Museum in Greenock will celebrate the 300 year Anniversary of Scotts' Although actually traded 280 odd years.
