A slim Scottish Georgian longcase clock. An oak case with fretwork to the hood top typical of the east coast of Scotland and Edinburgh. Brass capped fluted hood columns. An original central brass finial and brass swan neck pediment patterae. Fluted trunk side columns and a shaped trunk door top. An attractive arched painted dial with early feature of raised gilt corners and a Georgian lady in the arch oval. Date and seconds dials with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1800.

Ninian Davidson of Dunse is recorded in Whytes' 'Scottish Clock and Watchmakers' book as working in Edinburgh in 1788. He moved to Dunse and worked from 1798-1820.
