Superb Reading Table - Regency - c1820
This mahogany reading table is a lovely size and in excellent order.
Turned legs with square block intermediate detail support an under-tier which serves for storage, display and to add robustness to the piece. The centre shelf has side rails forming a tray.
The top surface serves as a normal small occasional table until lifted, when it is supported by an integral back-stay, and becomes angled. The angle is adjustable to suit the reader.
The table can be used on the lap, set on a table or if relaxing in a chaise or bed. The excellent size means that the piece is portable and light, yet will still accommodate a sizeable book.
The table is nicely crafted and solid.
Overall this piece of antique furniture is in very good condition with fine colour. An excellent and unusual antique.
