Rare Stratton Unused Powder Compacts
This is a rare unused compact. The Stratton "Diamond - Shaped Glamorizer" is hard to find. This model of compact was only known to be available from 1959 - 1962. The compact has not been used and comes with the original presentation box, luxury silk puff, felt lined pouch and instruction leaflet. The compact and all of the accessories are in excellent condition. This is the version with an inner annular ring to hold the pans of solid powder in place. At the front of the compact is a " slide bolt ". The original instruction leaflet is in place and it gives easy to follow instructions on how to install a pan of powder.
The tag line for this model of vintage Stratton powder compact was " Glamorize your pressed and cream powder by encasing it in this NEW Stratton PRESSED POWDER Glamorizer ". The compact is indeed glamorous - the lid has a blank circular central cartouche and a complex engine turned design. This accessory was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of lacquer which means it will never tarnish or need to be cleaned.
The compact is diamond shaped with eight indentations on the lid and base. All clasps and hinged work perfectly. The interior is all gilt and lacquered. A golden diamond shaped bezel frames the mirror, which gives and good reflection. The mirror bezel is signed " Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND PRO PAT." The powder well was coated with a layer of cream enamel at the point of manufacture to protect the brass. This enamel coating is still pristine. The felt pouch and luxury Stratton puff are also in super condition. The puff is signed " Stratton MADE IN ENGLAND ". The base has an engraved design made up of tiny diamond shapes. Measures 3 1/4" and weighs 88.2 grams.
