Rare Scottish Silver Sauce Boat, Edinburgh c1770
A rare, early George III, Scottish Sterling Silver Sauce Boat made by Patrick Robertson of Edinburgh and dating from c1770.
Patrick Robertson is recorded as working in Edinburgh c1769 to 1790.
The plain silver sauce boat is hallmarked on the underside of the base with the maker's mark "PR" for Patrick Robertson and on the rim of the base with the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter, difficult to read but probably "R" for 1771/72.
The sauce boat measures 7" inches (180mm) in length. The weight is 188.5g/6.64oz/6.06ozt.
It is in very good condition.
