Rare Musgrave Saddle Rack and work table. Tackroom
A rare find indeed, this saddle rack was made by Musgrave and Co in the second half of the 1900s, presented in well grained pitch pine. Having representation in London and Paris as well as the base in Belfast the company became synonymous with quality saddle racks. This example has just come out of our workshops having had a couple of minor repairs and a good clean, ensuring the impressive graining is kept intact as sanding can seriously detract from the look. The handles on the drawers are original and show the detail of the casting. The feet and castors are in place but the time sitting in tack rooms has stopped the castors rolling. The lifting handles are in place and the cast triangular ends are lovely with the highlighted detail in the casting. The top folds down to allow for cleaning of tack and other than some staining in the centre the surface is good with not too much marking over the last 150 years. The oposite end to the drawers there is a cupboard which still retains the brass locking catch. A lovely rare item, totally useable and would make a fantastic present for a person who is into horses, be this a present for oneself or for someone else. This givesspace to work on tack and with the drawers and cupboard space to store items too. Give us a call 01565 874075
