Primitive Elm & Ash Cutlers Stool primitive stool cutlers stool work stool %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
An utterly charming Primitive Elm and Ash Cutlers Stool with a wealth of character, great colour and patina. This rare example having 4 legs as opposed to the typical 3. The thick elm seat of an irregular shape with wedge through tenon legs of which show the ring turns. This highly sculptural piece is very firm standing despite its irregular form. This stool would equally make a quirky side table as it has great height.

These stools were made and used for the Steel works in Sheffield throughout the 19th century by the workers, they are commonly marked with the workman's initials to the underside - this stool is initialed W & H which leads us to believe this is not the workers initials but the Silversmiths Walker and Hall. English, Circa 1850.

Dimensions: Height: 58.5 cm - 23 Inches, Width: 40 cm - 15 3/4 Inches, Depth: 22.25 cm - 8 3/4 Inches
