This is a fantastic large pencil study by Phyllis M. Wise after Sir Edwin Landseer. The drawing is beautifully executed by an accomplished artist. This drawing encapsulates 19th-century countryside England with the riding gloves and crop in the foreground. This beautiful pencil drawing with ebonised frame will sit comfortably in any country house. The drawing is dated 1920 and signed Phyllis Wise with a further notation to the bottom left corner: “after Sir Edwin Landseer”.
