Paul H.Ellis Ex.1882-1908 Oil Thames Timberyard

We are offering for sale this lovely antique oil on canvas by the artist PAUL H. ELLIS, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. It is inscribed verso Timber Yard Pangbourne on Thames P.H.Ellis. The painting depicts a timber yard on the banks of the Thames, with a stack of cut timber to the right of the buildings. There is a woman wearing a bonnet sitting on a large tree trunk behind the building. On the opposite bank of the river, a herd of cows is watering. The painting has been executed in great detail, particularly the plants in the foreground, and is one of two by this artist that we are currently listing.
