Circa 1900, unusual pair of walnut, burr walnut and gilded book troughs. The troughs have oval ends with matching walnut veneers inside and outside, and gilt oval frames with a foliate and fabric effect with a carved foot on each side. In the centre is a solid walnut book trough. Very unusual to get a pair of book troughs, they are possibly by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh.
