Here is a good quality pair of antique French walnut Fauteuil armchairs (circa 1880), from the 2nd Empire period, in good condition, featuring the original floral tapestry upholstery. The chairs are constructed of solid walnut and features arched high-backs, supported by good quality down-swept moulded arms, which incorporate carved acanthus leaves to the shoulders and terminate with scroll ends. Upright scroll supports that display carved acanthus leaves at the base, secure the arms. The chairs feature bow-fronted seats, which are supported by inverted cabriole scroll legs, comprising further acanthus leaf carvings, united by a shaped central stretcher. The chairs retain the original floral tapestry upholstery portraying autumnal colours, consisting of brown, green, gold, blue, and fawn colours and are finished with brass studwork braiding. The firm sprung seats have sufficient depth to them to ensure they are extremely comfortable to sit on they do not sag.
The chairs display a dark rich brown walnut colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a lovely colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms including the bedroom, living room, dining room or hallway. The chairs would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

Condition Report:
These chairs are in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the walnut frames but nothing significant considering the age of these chairs. The chairs feature the original tapestry upholstery, which is clean and free from any holes, however there is fading, especially to the seats, so they may benefit from being recovered, if you want the upholstery to be in perfect condition. The solid walnut frames boast the original polish, which is why there is a lovely rich colour and patination to the timer. The sprung seats are firm but comfortable to sit on they do not sag. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. These chairs are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
